Well this is new, the blackberry definitely didn’t have this app installed. I had to get from my apartment in Dorval all the way to Canada Computers in Laval with absolutely no idea how to get there by car. That’s right , 6months on the island and I rarely leave Dorval. But none the less I neded to fix my PC. So I access their website on my new nexus and I hut the link to Google maps (I was gonna copy the address and add it manually but I can’t figure out how to copy text from a web site on this thing) and I hit directions. I used my current location as the start point and the store as my destination, then I hit navigation. It launched Google Nav and gave vocal turn by turn instructions. Absolutely awesome. It also knew where there was construction and guided me through it.
I am looking forward to picking up the Google Nexus phone this up coming week. I have been without a phone for almost 2 months now and it is killing me. For a person so connected to technology as I am, not having a cell phone is devastating. But thankfully I get to replace the old torch with a more up to date phone that can handle new OSes. The problem with the Blackberry line of phones is they don’t make them update-able. Over the years I have had a few Blackberry phones, the most recent ones were the Curve 8530 which had OS 5 and would not allow the upgrade to 6, so I got a Torch, and less then 8 months later they announce 7, which the torch 9800 will not support. So I decided that since my non-upgrade-able phone got stolen, instead of just getting a replacement, I would get a phone with a little more personality, looks and function, The Google Nexus. I will get picks once I get it next week.
Well this weekend has been a hell of a downer for me. On Friday I opened the store at 8:30 so my boss/good friend could sleep in, having going out the night before for one of his friends birthdays. He called me that morning on my cell to ask me if opening went okay, and as I was up front putting out the papers, everything was fine. After the call I put down the phone on the desk nearest the door and finished putting out the papers.
